utiki 3If you are looking for one of the most scenic dock-and-dine restaurants in Palm Beach County, U-Tiki Beach fits the bill. Situated across from the Jupiter Lighthouse, the water-side restaurant — owned by veteran South Florida restauranteur Jim Taube — is a perfect place to stop during a day on the water.

New floating docks offer 42 slips for transient boats, and the restaurant is next to Jupiter Inlet Marina, which offers public slips and fuel.

The open-air concept seats up to 300 people and offers tables right on the sandy beach. During the winter, U-Tiki is packed with wait times averaging an hour or two, especially on weekends. But it’s worth the wait, and the large bar at the center of the restaurant serves up strong drinks while you sit by the water admiring the view. Reggae usually plays from the speakers in the Caribbean-themed restaurant, which sometimes hosts local bands and performers.

utiki 2U-Tiki Beach offers typical Florida fare including blackened mahi-mahi, grouper and cracked conch, along with typical bar food like burgers, wings, and flatbreads. They also offer a variety of sushi rolls. On a recent Saturday night, my party started with the seared ahi tuna sashimi served with a wasabi drizzle. For an entree, I chose their sweet-potato crusted hogfish with mango and chili paste, which was both fresh and packed with flavor. Other offerings include coconut curry seafood served over basmati rice, a tempura-battered grouper-cheek burger, and an Asian-inspired seared tuna salad. Vegetarian options include portabella French fries served with a horseradish dipping sauce, a variety of salads, and a crispy onion burger. Other dishes, such as their signature Caribbean bowls, could be tweaked to accommodate a vegan diet.

The restaurant is perfect for romantic dates, yet welcoming to families with children. While sitting at the outdoor tables, locals and visitors may feel as if they are in Key West.

U-Tiki Beach is open for dinner every night from 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Lunch is offered from noon on Saturdays and Sundays. There are no reservations.
