Texas Seaport Museum TEXASGalveston, Texas is rich with things to do but if you are looking to satisfy your thirst for knowledge, a trip to the Texas Seaport Museum is the perfect way to spend a day.  Making it even better would be to take your boat there!

There are a couple of places you can dock your boat for your day trip.  Both Galveston Yacht Basin or Galveston Yacht Club have guest docking (http://www.texasoutside.com/marinas/galveston.htm), and they are a short walk to the museum, making it almost way too easy.

The Texas Seaport Museum is located in the historic port of Galveston. It tells a story of seaborne commerce and immigration.  Galveston is known as “The Ellis Island of the West” and the museum has a one-of-a-kind computer database that contains the names of over 100,000 immigrants who entered the U.S. through Galveston.

The museum is also home to the 1877 tall ship Elissa.  The Elissa is a three-masted iron-hulled sailing ship. Not only can you explore the boat, but you can also learn her vast history.

The museum also has a theater where there are reenactments daily.

The museum is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. For more information you can go on the website here: http://www.galveston.com/texasseaportmuseum/.
