PeraBell Food Bar East

A new dock and dine restaurant is located a hop, skip, and a jump from the Riverhead town dock.

The rear entrance to PeraBell East sports an outdoor patio bar and tables to enjoy drinks and delicious fare; if climbing stairs to the patio deck isn’t feasible, the restaurant’s Main Street entrance is a short walk around the corner. There’s also sidewalk dining at the front of the restaurant, weather permitting.

PeraBell by Robert BanfelderWe began our dinner by sharing a Thai chili shrimp appetizer of six beautifully presented colossal shrimp encrusted in a light batter and served with chive oil and two sauces — a pineapple sambal and a drizzle of chili pepper sriracha. This dish is a culinary treat that’s just a tad spicy, but oh, so delectable. Other menu winners are tuna and mango tartare seasoned with sushi rice, guacamole, seaweed salad, pickled cucumbers and served with plantain chips and the Tuscan mussels in a garlic wine broth. Kids will love the jumbo buttermilk-battered chicken fingers served with honey mustard sauce.

I selected the apple and horseradish crusted salmon as my entrée. It’s served with sour cream, chive mashed potatoes, and al dente steamed asparagus. My dining partner wavered between the jumbo lump crabcakes accompanied by roasted corn and steamed vegetables over a lime vinaigrette with a chipotle drizzle and the Gorgonzola-crusted flatiron steak served with caramelized onion hashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Such a dilemma!

Additional seafood entrées include seared sea scallops with wild mushrooms, potato, and roasted tomato and sesame-crusted tuna with a vegetable stir-fry and steamed brown rice. Landlubbers will delight in the hickory-smoked pork shank brushed with an apple-scented BBQ sauce served over bacon and corn home fries and the Cajun 16-ounce ribeye, haricots verts, andouille sausage, crawfish, and cheese mashed potatoes. Veg choices include the grilled vegetable panini and the pomodora pizza along with creative salads.

Top off your meal with an espresso or cappuccino along with the chocolate lava cake or the chef’s specialty, a perfectly baked dessert pizza topped with Nutella and fresh berries.

Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, PeraBell Food Bar East offers a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, great service, and fine fare along the Peconic River. Weekend entertainment on the patio is an extra treat.
