northport cow harbor 2During the weekend of September 19 through 20, Northport gives a nod to its past in a most enjoyable way. Back when cows may have grazed alongside the harbor, the area was known as “The Great Cow Harbor,” and so the weekend’s celebrations take on the name.

Runners will not only have fun but will be competing for prizes. In addition, the top female and male finishers that set new course records will receive $5,000.00! The race is a fundraiser that supports Special Olympics, the Veterans Administration, and the local food pantry.

The day kicks off at noon with a parade featuring local musicians, floats, school sports teams and marching bands, antique cars, and the Northport Trolley. In addition, there will be lots of people dressed as cows!

At the conclusion of the parade, Harbor Park transforms into a waterside festival, with amusement rides, live music, local vendors, boating contests, and lots of tasty food.
