Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill

lido 01White and yellow umbrellas blocked the last rays of the setting sun. A string of lights flickered as the disc jockey started up mellow background music. Low chatter surrounded my friends and I as we settled down at our table for a lazy Sunday night at Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill at the Standard Hotel.

Situated on Biscayne Bay with sweeping views of both midtown Miami and Miami Beach, Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill offers an organic, Mediterranean-inspired menu. Transient slips are available for $1.50 per foot per hour at the hotel’s marina. Dock space is also available at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club, which is a 10-minute walk from the restaurant.

Cocktail selections included the botanist, a refreshing and light gin drink with a twist of elderberry, lime, cucumber, and dill. Another option was the Lido lemonade made with fresh lemon, mint, cherry juice, and a base of citrus vodka.

For starters, we settled on guacamole, and the vegan fritto misto, a plate of lightly fried artichokes, and shiitake mushrooms. Other choices include a crisp kale salad, grilled mussels, and spicy tuna tartare.

I chose the vegan lasagna as my entrée, which is served cold. A raw take on the Italian specialty, the dish was made with thinly sliced zucchini, carrots, and a nut-based filling covered in tomato sauce and vegan cheese. A friend of mine ordered the grilled octopus, which was charred to perfection and served over a warm white bean sauce with an artichoke salad on the side. Another companion decided on a delicate red snapper with shaved Brussels sprouts and a flavorful truffle vinaigrette. Other items on the menu included fish tacos served with red cabbage slaw, skirt steak frites, grilled steelhead salmon, and a mushroom veggie burger.

We finished with the moist coconut cake smothered in a creamy vanilla icing and topped with shaved coconut for dessert. After dinner we swayed to the low-key music and had one more glass of wine before calling it a night.

Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is open seven days a week from 7:00 am – 11:00 pm.
