Chesapeake City, Maryland is a historical town filled with Victorian charm. Located along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, it is perfect for a day trip on your boat.

You can easily dock at the town dock, which is located on the west side of the Back Creek Basin. It is limited to first-come, first-served and is free. If that is filled, check with the Chesapeake Inn and Marina or Schaefer’s Restaurant and Canal Bar, as both have transient slips.

Begin your exploration by heading to C&D Canal Museum, which is on one side of the canal. You can learn about the history of the world’s third busiest canal.

If you haven’t had enough time on boats yet, hop aboard one of Miss Clare Cruises and hear historic narrative tours. For schedules and pricing please call 410-885-5088.

Along with learning about the history of Chesapeake City, head to the center of town for shopping and gallery exploring. Bohemia Avenue and George Street are chock full of quaint shops and things to see.

There are plenty of places to grab a bite and enjoy a drink in the same area. The Bayard House and Chesapeake Inn Restaurant and Marina provide waterfront dining.  And if you are hankering for ice cream go to Canal Creamery.

This sweet town is a great way to spend a day.
